GRIDSERVE eHGV Freightway Chargers are open to EV Caravaners
Brilliant News!!!
Gridserve are beginning to roll out a number of electric truck charging stations for their ‘Electric Freightway’.
The first two are at Extra Baldock (J10 of the A1(M)) and Moto Exeter (J30 of the M5).
There are seven more locations scheduled to open later this year.
Up until now, Gridserve’s view has been that these charging locations should be purely for eHGV traffic. EV Caravanners would not be welcome.
My view was that as long as we didn’t take up the last charger and didn’t delay any HGVs charging, nobody should mind if we used them.
But we have just heard that thanks to José De Bardi,
GRIDSERVE eHGV Freightway Chargers are open to EV Caravaners!
This is really great news as these are a whole block of drive-through chargers.
350 kW, CCS, cables on either side.
Thank you, José De Bardi.

Big News – GRIDSERVE eHGV Freightway Chargers are open to EV Caravaners!
I have spent the last couple of days discussing the challenges some of us have faced using these facilities with the Head of eHGV at GRIDSERVE.
I am pleased to say they were very proactive in expressing a wish to ensure we can use these drive-thru chargers. After discussing internally and with the landlords of the various motorway services that host the chargers (Moto, Extra etc), it has been officially confirmed that EVs towing caravans are welcome to use GRIDSERVE eHGV chargers.
Within GRIDSERVE, the Head of eHGV and Customer Services Team Leader are fully aware of this decision and have ensured their teams and the landlords will respect and follow this new policy. So, should you have any issues, a quick call to Gridserve should be all that is needed to resolve the problem.
Obviously, the usual rules and etiquette will apply when using any charger, not staying longer than necessary for example. But I would hope that any forward thinking eHGV driver would be more than interested in your experience as an EV caravaner as opposed to being combative.
Please do share your experiences of using these facilities here.

Happy towing and drive-thru charging!
We will be watching out for the other locations. If you hear any news, please pass it on.
If you use any of these locations, would you consider sending a picture for the website?
